The Table Around Cage
John Cage by Karbido for the Table and Tablists Quartet

 

TABLE AROUND CAGE is an audioperformance inspired by John Cage's work and heritage. It is the most recent project of Karbido group and is carried out on a unique instrument designed for four musicians – an electroacoustic wooden table. This time the musicians try to involve in an artistic dialogue with Cage as well as to cross the boundaries of their own experience and habits, concentrating on sound-creating values of their unusual instrument. In their performance there are four pieces/processes which are related to the composer's idea and an attempt to perform one of his scores.

Karbido group for many years has always been focused on variety of genres and the blurring of formal borders. Their most recent program will be performed for the first time on August 26th in MÓZG club in Bydgoszcz within the worldwide project John Cage Year. This first performance will be recorded as material for a docummentary. Paweł Czepułkowski, Igor Gawlikowski, Marek Otwinowski and Michał Litwiniec will be sitting at the table.
